2017 is going to be an action-packed year of equestrian competition at the Green Glens Arena and we need your help! This July, Millstreet will host the FEI European Eventing Championships for Young Riders and Juniors – the first time the combined Championships will be held in Ireland. Athletes from over 20 nations are expected to make the journey to Co. Cork for what will undoubtedly be world-class competition. Two days of dressage will be followed by the Cross Country phase on Saturday 22nd July when horses and riders will navigate the course set by Mike Etherington-Smith through the historic Drishane Castle Demesne. The Championship medals will be decided the following afternoon in the showjumping arena.Four weeks later, some of the world’s best event riders will travel to Millstreet for their opportunity to take the honours at 3, 2 and 1 star level competition.
Events of this magnitude cannot take place without a huge team of volunteers and supporters. Although we have only been running events at International level for two years, one of the comments that we keep hearing from our visiting riders and officials is how accommodating, welcoming and professional our volunteers and stewards are. For this, we are extremely grateful to all those who have made themselves available.
