Junior Championship Round-Up
At the end of an action packed afternoon at the Green Glens Arena, Millstreet, Germany won the Team Gold on a score of 95.2. The team members; three of them first timers in the Junior championships, are trained by German Olympic rider Julia Krajewski. Three clear rounds saw them maintain their position over the British team who finished on 102.70 and France on 131.30.
Team Ireland maintained their 4th place, just 9.8 penalties away from a medal.
Individually British rider Isabelle UPTON added just 2 time penalties to her overnight score to win the Gold.
Isabelle had been on the podium here for the Pony Europeans in 2014 in Silver position so she was thrilled to go one better this time.
This must be my lucky event. I have absolutely loved every minute of it, I feel like I am in a bit of a dream now but am sure when the whirlwind is over I will remember this for my whole life. It was nice having a cushion but he jumped the best he has jumped all year.”
German riders Gesa STAAS and Emma BRÜSSAU took the Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
The stands were packed this afternoon at the ‘FEI EUROPEAN EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR YOUNG RIDERS AND JUNIORS PRESENTED BY CONNOLLY’S RED MILLS.
