Young Riders – Final Dressage Update
Sam ECROYD (GBR) has taken the lead in the Young Rider Championships on a score of 35.70.
It was a personal best for the combination and Sam was quick to pay tribute to the work his team, vet, physio and groom played in producing him at his best for today. Sam said
He is good enough in his body but the marginal gains the team have been able to give him today resulted in this great score. Dressage trainer Emma Fisher got the right rhythm in the trot and his canter is always good so I am really pleased with him today.”
Three members of the British team achieved personal bests in the dressage phase so great credit to Emma.
Of the cross country course, Sam said
‘It is a proper Championship track in true Irish style, it is a not a dressage competition for sure. It is intense towards the end but there is not one bogey fence. The weather will play a big influence. The time is tight but fair.”
Second is Hanna KNÜPPEL (GER) on a score of 36.00. Susannah BERRY is the best of the Irish riders in 4th place on a score of 38.40. In the team competition, France lead on 121, followed by Germany on 125.1 and Great Britain on 125.3. Team Ireland is in 5th place on 136.2. The cross country action for the Young Rider Championship will start at 14.00 on Saturday with live scoring and cross country commentary available through the Millstreet Championship website.
